New Phones?

Hey All
This might be an old and annoying question for most of you, but have any of you heard about Alltel getting any new phones this summer? (Not including palms or Blackberries). A representative from an Alltel store in Charlotte told me they would be releasing several new phones throughout the summer, but he did not know what they would be. So any info on what phones and release dates would be greatly appreciated. Also, any rumors on Alltel carrying the RAZR2 when it is released? Thank you.

Don't know if you heard, but there is a moratorium on new 3G phones carrying the Qualcomm chip on CDMA until further notice. If a phone is already in the pipeline, we will probably see it. If not, we won't. I work for the company at a retail store, and I have heard nothing so far. The RAZR2 will probably be an exclusive with Verizon for a while, before it filters down to the other CDMA carriers, but I would guess that AT&T and T-Mobile will get it first.

3G also affects the GSM carriers....

However, what I'm wondering is, if a phone is already in the states, but not currently carried by your carrier, can it be adopted onto your carrier?

For example, the 8700 or something is on Verizon, but this silly ban goes on for 6 months. Would Alltel or USCC or Sprint or whoever be able to order these phone for themselves (assuming Verizon doesn't have an exclusive on it) or would that count as a new model?

Just a thought that ran through my head.

Samsung Wafer is in stores now, we also have the snap my only beef with it is why would you not put web access on there? Wafer seems nice so far working out the bugs but I think it is going to be a hit!

Thanks for the info guys
I am just ready for Alltel to release another full keyboard phone (something like the ENV from Verizon). I am not a big fan of the strobe, the display is tiny and the few friends I have that had the phone hated it so I will not be getting that one. I believe Kyocera made an upgrade of that phone called the M1000. I could be wrong. For future references, any rumors or news on new phones to be released at Alltel will be appreciated. Thanks again.

Alltel is going to get the Razr 2 V9m. It is not a verizon exclusive. Alltel was expected to get it mid/late july when it is expected to be released but the final U.S version was not here yet which means that it is banned because of the Qualcomm chip thing.

So maybe when they get all this sorted out it will be released.

Also a newer version of the E815 is expected to be coming this year but im pretty sure it will be a Verizon Exclusive. 👿

If the new version of the E815 remedies the charging port, which it should, along with a few other technical upgrades, I think that will be a dynamine handset. Unless you use the phone to pound nails, it seems to be one of the sturdier phones around, and frankly, for people who don't care for the dimensions of the RAZR, this is a great alternative, IMHO. Thank you, MOTO!
