New Phone Suggestions

I'm upgrading from an Audiovox i've had for around 2 and a half years. It wasn't the slickest phone around but it always worked and worked well but now after years it's starting to break down. I'm currently thinking about either the Motorola E815 or the LG AX-355 and maybe even possibly the waffer. My main concerns in a phone are 1. battery life (always on "roam" but have nationwide plan so it drains batteries fast) 2. reception 3. Loud speakers (audiovox sometimes was too quite) and i'd also like some features this time ie. bluetooth, mp3, camera, video and it'd be an added bonus but a welcomed one at that if the mp3's could be used as ringtones. If anyone has any suggestions to which phone u believe is for me i'd appreciate your input....

If you are in the market to upgrade phones right now, I would go with the LG AX-355 from the list of phones you have as options. You might also look into the LG AX8600, as it is in the same price range now. The price dropped to 50 dollars with a 2 year contract as of yesterday I believe. Its got all your features, camera, bluetooth, mp3s, expandable memory...etc And its super slime for a flip phone. Personally, I would stay away from all Motorolla phones, but that is just my opinion as I've had bad luck with them in the past, but many people will disagree with that statement. Good luck with whatever it is you decide to get.

The Moto's are the best in Alltel's lineup.

But the 8600 is a very solid phone, not normal for an LG, but this one would surprise many. The ax 355 is older, doesn't have evdo. It's an okay phone though it does have PTT.

The E815 is the best for reception overall and is an excellent phone. A little bulky though. Good battery life and really is the best phone for your dollar right now.

The RAZR is a good as well. I wouldn't worry too much about getting a lemon.

The KRZR is very good as well, though a little pricey.

The only advantages that the 8600 and the KRZR have over the e815 is the mp3 player. Much better mp3 player on the ones with the external controls. But the e815 can play them fine as well as the razr. If you are l...

I was originally going to go with a RAZR but it just seems like it's a crap shoot as to if you get a good one or not. I have friend with them and some love them others hate them and with they had done some time to read reviews. I read some reviews and found that people hate the battery life and thats a major issue for me cuz the area i'm in drains batteries extremely fast that is the reason my current phone is lost and i'm in the market for a new one (the battery died and i can't call it and listen for the ring).

If the area in which you live tends to drain your battery quickly, it sounds like you are prone to using analog towers, which will do that. If you're looking for a tri-mode phone, good luck. Most of Alltel's network, if not all of it, is digital, so you have to be using someone else's towers. Chalk up one more vote for the RAZR...I have two, one for my business line, and one for my personal service. The 8600 looks like LG's answer to the RAZR, but I personally wouldn't use it...just don't care for it. I have little personal experience with LG and Samsung, for that matter, but they have found a home at Alltel. What is interesting is that we still get a lot of folks coming in looking to replace their old Nokia with a new Nokia, and of co...

I still get digital service but what it is if you've looked at the map of Kansas for alltel coverage and look how it's blue all over EXCEPT in the Kansas City region...well thats were i moved lol so we the roaming triangle thing is always flashing but since we got the plan were roaming is ok it doesn't matter much excet that it drains the battery fast. I'll get used to it though everyone i know up here seems to be with alltel so i might have to get some kind of extended battery for whatever phone i get.

There are several different ways to deal with the issue of battery life. 1 alltel offers extended life batteries. 2 rapid chargers the only issue with a rapid chargers is you do NOT want to use it all the time your phone needs a good slow home charge three, four times a week at least. When you use your RAZR as a modem you get a constant trickle charge from your computer.
