hey i know on the new phones that alltel is selling you can't use your own mp3's as ringtones. Can you still use motorola phone tools and stick the mp3's/ringtones on your phone and have them work as ringtones?? 😁
...

so i have motorola phone tools v5. i'm trying to stick some new ringtones on my new ROKR Z6m, which is part of the new alltel phones that you can't set your mp3's as ringtones. anyways i made a tone in the melody editor, then when i clicked send to my phone, it gives me a error saying i need the motorola codecs which i guess costs $6.50. Anyways i'm wondering if i download the codecs program will this allow me to send the tones to my phone to allow me to set them up as ringtones?? anyone have any ideas??

You can use your own mp3's as ringtones, I do not know why everyone says you can't. I throw mp3's on a memory card, and then put it in my Razr2. Open up the music file on the phone, and find the mp3's, then you have to move the file from your card to your phone. After that its good to use for a ringtone. I have over 20 ringtones on my phone that I made, and my wife has about 15 on her rokr.

It depends on how long ago you got your phone. I got my rokr back the first part of november and have the mp3 ability. I think it was about feb time frame when this was disabled. Not positive on the date exactly.

Is there a way to bypass the block if you have one of the newer ROKRs?
...
I go to www.myxer.com and make my own, then have the file sent to my phone as a text message. All you need to do is have the internet enabled for a day ($1.50) if you dont have it.
Some of the newer phones put blocks on that stuff, so if your phone is new you cant. you have to buy the tones or buy a jump kit/data kit.
Lame, I know, which is why I'm happy that I have an older phone. It gets me by.

moto phone tools still work on most phones.
