Calling...Home (and getting a complete stranger)

I don't have Alltel right now, but almost everyone I know has it, and I have this problem calling them all the time. Let's say I am calling my Aunt's Cellphone, sometimes I will call it and it won't do anything, it wont ring, just silence. Then I will call back and I will get someone elses number completely. This seems to be getting worse and worse, and it has to be with Alltel because I have T-mobile and the same doesn't happen to me (Alltel is pretty much a monopoly around here, T-mobile has very limited coverage in comparison). I'm guessing there are too many people using the towers around here, but the weird thing is I live in a city with a population of 500, so go figure. Any ideas?

wow I have alltel and have sold alltel for over two years and never had a customer come to me and complain about that problem. And trust me I have heard plenty of problems and not that.

It must be my area, because everyone I know with Alltel has the problem. It's really weird, I guess one of them should call customer service, they've yet to do that, they just complain about it, lol. Its really aggrivating to me though, I hate calling and getting someone I don't know.

have them call so alltel can send a tech out to their area to see what is up.

Are you including the area code when you dial? It seems so elementary to anyone in the cellular business but we still get customers that will argue about not wanting to include the area code when they dial. As an example, here in the Phoenix area there are 5 areas codes. If you dial 7 digits the chance of your call routing to someone else is pretty high. If you ARE dialing 10 digits and the call is routing improperly, call Tech Support. A trouble ticket can be sent to the Translations dept to have the routing corrected.

I hada customer whose MIN and MDN was differnt. He purchased two lines from me and I gave him both numbers. I think when he got home, he assumed the MDN was his number and the MIN was his wife. So he would call the MIN and wonder why he kept getting this angry lady

I don't have alltel, its when I call the person from a landline telephone though. Sometimes it won't ring, other times i end up getting someone from Savannah or something, and I always check the number I dialed, and it's always the right one. I've called on different phones and from my cell phone (T-mobile) all with the same result. It doesn't happen everytime and sometimes it wont happen for a week or two, but it still happens and it's extremely aggrivating.

I haven't heard this particular problem, but my step-cousin did have a similar problem. She would try to dial her voice-mail, and the call would go to somebody else. This person of course got very angry with her, kept calling her back, started stalking her. She had a very bad experience, and is no longer an Alltel customer. It's sad, I've only had nothing but good experiences with Alltel.

use your area code and always program phone numbers with area code, even if you live in your area code, for one carrier there is a particular city where if you have a particular prefix you will call someone across the state line in another city(if you do not use your area code). As far as voice mail goes, people should check the voice mail number for their automatic dialing features, nokias have to be checked more, especially when the phone has been used by another person.
