Hello everyone I got a letter sating my contract is being bought out ☹️ recently I have gotten dropped calls network busy so on and so forth ☹️ I am wondering if anyone knows if I will be able to continue to call AT&T wireless customers and not charge once Alltel finishes the buyout. If I can't I don’t want Alltel service. What is going to happen to my phone can I continue to use it or do I have to buy a new Alltel phone? I paid allot of money for my phone will Alltel give me a new top of the line phone for free? Wishful thinking "get a new bad @ss phone" but really last year I paid good money for a NEC camera phone with a 2 year contract will Alltel give me a comparable phone with the remaining 1 year on my contract? Any ideas of how all...

I am in the Nort Texas area. How soon will I recive something letting me know how ALLTEL is going to take care of all of this. 😡 I hate not knowing what is going on because more than likely I will not have enough time to see if ALLTEL is for me or not.

North Texas is the same district that I'm in (Oklahoma). You should be receiving some information in the mail in the next couple of weeks because the transition phase will be taking place through the month of August.

Alltel will be as good or better than ATTWS was for you--I worked for ATTWS and now work for Alltel (part of the divestiture) and everything I have seen and heard (not just from corporate, but Alltel customers too) is that t...

All I am worried about is that I will no longer be able to talk to other AT&T customers (which now are Cingular customers) for free and will not get a phone of equal value as the one I have with the one year remainig on my contract.

If the ATTWS customers are Cingular customers you will not be able to get mobile-to-mobile with them any more than you get mobile-to-mobile with Sprint PCS customers. Unfortunately that is the resulting fallout from the ATTWS/Cingular merger. You will retain mobile-to-mobile with the divested ATTWS customers that are transitioning to Alltel products and services.

As I said before, I cannot speak as to the phones you will be offered, but worst-case scenario, ...

I have friends in the Dallas Fort Worth area that were AT&T customers that now are Cingular customers will Alltel let me call them for free? If not I am going to pissed! 👿 What a good scheme Alltel has going on you have to get one of their phones because that is not part of the contract just the service is, what I have to sign up for at least another year or maybe even 2 if I want a new phone. Cant they convert my phone to work on their system?

Please keep in mind that I am not a Cingular customer by choice, I signed up with AT&T then got sold to Cingular I didn’t have a problem with that because every one that had AT&T service was also switched over about half of the people I regularly talked lived in the Dallas Fort Worth area now it seem that I will no longer be able to talk to them without losing my minutes. It would be like the people in Norman, Oklahoma not being able to talk to people in in the rest of Oklahoma with out using their minutes. When I made my choice to go with AT&T it was based solely on the basis of what carrier that most of my friends had it happened to be AT&T if it would have been any other carrier I would have gone with them I have no loyalties to any wirel...

well Im sorry with what you have to go through. But keep in mind alltel did not know this was going to happen and did not purposly do this for profit. I hope things work out for you and if it would save you money, pay the ETF and get out and go with what your friends have if that will help. You can also just take advantage of alltel's awesome plans and get like the Greater Freedom 1200 min plan for 59.99 and you will have 1200 mins to talk to your friends. Pay 7 dollars to get the free nights and weekends at 7. And now you will have a ton of mins and better coverage then your friends on cingular. I had a customer who wanted Nextel because all her friends had it. She paid a 500 dollar deposit to get with alltel because she will have coverage ...
