Now all I want to see is the rate plans. The Alltel rates sux when it comes to TOTAL FREEDOM plan. Don't give us that NATIONAL FREEDOM that lets us go to the top 200 cities. Is Vernal UT in the top 200? 😁 I want the rates of the other (major) player that is up in my area. I've talked to other CellularOne users that voice the same concern.

First Alltel's NF coverage has already improved to cover more of the US at the same rate I had TF but found that I get the same coverage with NF and never pay roaming plus you get more M2M and NW minutes. Alltel's rates on NF are better than VZW or cingular. Here is the new coverage area for NF

Not that I'm from Vernal, mind you. Never been there but I hear it's near Flaming Gorge National Park. I want to visit that someday. Check mapquest.

I ride a motorcycle and we get off the beatin' path. I want to get no roaming plan that will be "no roaming". If you read the National versus the Total you see it says top 200 areas.

I've checked that map and Vernal would not be included, it looks like, Maybe when they take over Western Wireless Vernal will be covered.

Keep in mind companies like Cingular, T-MO and Sprint have limited or no coverage out west so your only shot will be VZW or Alltel and they are roaming partners!

By the map I was looking at it looks as if Vernal is on the the edge of the NF but when the networks are combined you will definitely have it on the NF plan.

If you want a plan that is "no roaming period" then you will get far less for your $ for that feature.

No Cingular, T-Mobile up here in ND. A local Telco, Verizon and now Alltel, previously CellOne.

Alltel NF 450 anytime free roaming near major cities @ $40
Alltel TF 350 anytime totally free roaming @ $50
Verizon 450 anytime totally free roaming @ $40

I know that the sales pitch will be to the National plan. My daughter lives in CO. I look at that plan (NF) and if I use the phone when I'm there it will cost .59 a minute. I'm lookin' at the light shaded area is where she lives.

Nope in sunny Florida 😉

I looked at the new Alltel NF map and Verizons America choice map and CO looks to me to have the exact same coverage!?! Make sure if you go to Alltels website you enlarge the NF map that is the only one that shows the increased coverage not the little thumbnail version

BTW look at this post Alltel is sweetening the pot on NF plans

I have looked at NF and TF. Increased sizes and the TF gives me the Colorado area I want free roaming and the NF is .40 roaming. NW of Denver, the shaded area is on NF, it is all blue in the TF.

Damn, ain't I picky? 🙂 Thanks for the link to Howards.

You are good in sales, I might add. 😁

Still, maybe they aren't done fiddlin' with the rates, I hope.

HOnestly the only real difference between America's choice, VZW and National Freedom is where you will roam on NF you will pay roaming where as on America's choice you just will have no signal. I guess it is what is important to you.

That is because the roaming areas on the NF plans are analog areas and VZW is abandoning analog or their phones software is updated to only work on preferred carriers sites. 😕

He is pretty much right and Total Freedom is both but the nice thing with Total Freedom you will still get a signal with no roaming but as a rep I sell little because there are certain areas that total freedom is great for but I have few customers that go west or even Kentucky. Honestly Alltel's Local plans are great and most people do not even leave their local calling area but I hope it works out for you because you will like the service once they iron it out.

Why not get the best of both worlds get a greater freedom plan with a butt load of minutes in your local area (usually your state and sometimes surrounding state) and add the free to roam minutes for $10 which gives you 100 anytime minutes each month to use anywhere when you travel! 😁

daddydogg, I hardly ever go east. We usually head towards the mountains. Tetons, Yellowstone, Glacier, Rocky Mountain NP.

You guys almost have me talked into the NF plan. 🙂

But I'm going to go "roam" for a week in the Black Hills of SD.
