Total wireless net adds were 21k. Alltel added 77k post-pay subs, but lost 17k prepaid in
its heritage mkts for a net gain of 60k. The Western Wireless mkts added 28k
net subs. The company also lost 67k subs in recently acquired mkts excluding Western
Wireless. ARPU in Alltel's heritage mkts was $51.83 compared with $49.36 in 3Q04. Total ARPU (incl. Western) was $53.78. Total churn was 2.37% vs. our estimate of
2.20% due to the losses in new markets and prepaid.

Alltel still lags behind the competition when it comes to up and up phones. As well here in Chapel Hill the tower signal is weak. It seems Cingular and Sprint have the best. When will Alltel release some real phones and give it's customers a choice?

no one knows when they will release new phones but i think they will if they want to be the number 1 play in their markets.

i'm impressed w/ the arpu, correct me if i'm wrong but that is up there w/ verizon isn't it?(i haven't seen there expectations for the quarter) churn was pretty high though

i am also impressed with arpu as well, however, i am not impressed with overall quart net adds. (nextel partners got 107k)

regarding arpu, it is pretty close to their levels, however, one cant compare alltel with verizon. verizon gets 1.9 million while they only get less then 100k. i would think arpu would be a bit highier becuase alltel would concentrate on their markets and offer better products and services. kinda like nextel partners and nextel becuase partners has highier numbers cept for new subscriber growth then them. (partners leads nextel in basically every other area besides for qt sub growth)

churn is way too high.

Their ARPU sucks. Sprint and Nextel (pre-merger) were $63 and $69, respectively.

when sprint reported today, they mentioned the following;

Net subscriber adds (in thousands) 1,272
Direct - post-paid (a)669
Direct - pre-paid 300
Wholesale 213
Affiliate (a)(b)90

"a) In the third quarter of 2005, Post-paid and Affiliate net
subscriber adds do not include the impact of 522,000 subscriber
transfers related to our acquisition of US Unwired Inc. However, the
ending subscriber amounts do reflect these transfers.

(b) In the fourth quarter of 2004, Sprint corrected the year-end 2004
Post-paid and Affiliate end of period subscribers to remove devices
used for demonstration or testing purposes. As this occurred over
several years, the third quarter of 2004 end of period subscriber

well no one will get that high anyway, becuase they offer highier end products then other companies.

there is one company that is highier then nextel though, and that is their partners called nextel partners.

Churn was high but it was expected due to the integration issues in OKC and some bad press that was unwarranted. Kind of messed up but they have corrected that problem and churn will be a lot lower after the new properties are properly integrated. Without numbers i can assume Cingulars churn was high due to ATT early 1st quarter this year so I guess in many ways it was expected. Alltel is resilient and will have a great 4th quarter.

I did not realize facts were excuses. Alltel got smoked in their newly integrated cingular properties and that lead to a ton of churn. How is that an excuse. They had a bad quarter in numbers but their profits and return on investment was as high as ever so I guess it is time to worry as an Alltel stockholder 🤭 🤣 😢
