Alltel family share pricing

I live in the triad area of NC (Greensboro, Winston, High Point) and am shopping for family wireless plan for my wife and I. We have not had wireless phones for several years. For our use, 500-1000 minutes will do and no wireless web, etc. is required. Good coverage throughout NC and SC is a priority.

My company offers a discount to employees on Verizon: 900 minutes for $58.59 per month. A comparible Cingular plan is $69.99 for 700 minutes, but has rollover minutes. Alltel weighs in at $69.99 for 1000 minutes, no rollover.

From reading here and talking to a few friends, it appears that Alltel has the best coverage of the three in my area. The only promotion offered when I spoke with an Alltel sales rep was adding early nights/w...

I wouldn't expect one carrier to match another carrier's offers.

One thing to concider that is often a concern in my area (southern MN)- a billion minutes a month for $5 isn't a good deal if you can only get good enough signal to use 5 minutes a month.

And no, I'm not an Alltel employee :-)

As far as company prices I would speak with your company to see if anything is set up with Alltel. If it is you might need to get your service set up with a business service rep to get the discount. Also you could try customer service at 1-800-alltel-1 to see if they have a solid answer as far as the discount part. Alltel will not match it, but if your company has something set up with them you would be able to get the discount. NO retail employee employee will have the answer to the discount question unfortunately though.

I am a wireless agent and carry all of the products available, including ALLTEL. My reponse to your question of matching rates would go something like this.
I would not expect Toyota to Match the price of a Kia. That is a true comparison of Alltel versus any other product out there.
Value for dollar, T-Mobile is best deal on family plans. But look at their coverage map and you will understand why. You want coverage, go ALLTEL. PERIOD.

I would highly recommend Alltel. They have great roaming agreements (mostly with verizon) and their coverage is far surperior in many markets. We have the Verizon/Alltel duopoly here in Cleveland, OH and Alltel rivals verizon in coverage all day long. I think its worth the extra money (if any) for better coverage.

Big thing for me is coverage, coverage, coverage. Highly recommend Alltel. Look at Nokia or Motorola phones for best reception (so they say on the forums).

Don't know about your area, but my reception in Midwestern states and DC area is outstanding, even in the boondocks.

I assume you are quoting National Freedom rate with one extra phone, which is what I have. Good plan. No roaming most places if travel. Calls between your 2 cells and with home or other land line should not count.

$75 package costs more for you unless you add a 3rd phone or if you want the 7pm start time.

Alltel now has some good deals on Nokia and Motorola flip phones, and there should be a Nokia candy bar phone coming out any day.

The story is that Alltel will be getting the Nokia 6235i, hopefully by Christmas. (This should be reputable but I'll believe it when I see it.) I'm pretty much checking every day but I'm not sure of the price. I sure miss the old 99 cent Nokia's.

I second that notion. Ithought before xmas on that phone but now I am thinking first quarter 2006. I just think Alltel might be a little leery about the quick release of this phone after the issues with the 6255I

As an update, the 6235i is out but I picked up the 6255i because the 6235i lacked bluetooth. The 6255 dropped half my calls at home (1-2 bars), so I now own the 6235. Great phone! Great reception (so far)! Definitely better than 6255. No bluetooth, but bluetooth doesn't do me any good if I can't make a call.
