Razr V3c usb connection...help!!!
Hey I got the v3c razor, and I have the mobile phonetools. My phone connects to the program because the program uploads my phonebook and will let me send mms and text messages. However the multimedia portion of the program is inaccessible. I have called motorola and the program help line and both have informed me that Alltel has the file transfer or something like that blocked. I am willing to buy the bluetooth conversion thing for my pc if thats necessary, but I really want this to work without having to spend any more money.

I would also like to know more about this, I was told in a previous thread that the Alltel RAZR supports OBEX (Object Exchange), (File Transfer in other words) a good positive answer would be nice before I buy one. 😳

Just to let you know Verizon did NOT disable the OBEX on the new Razr. I dont know why you would want to keep your Midwest Wireless account and then upgrade to Alltel. Just wait til you see what they do to your rate plans and how your small town feel that you had with Midwest goes away....Take some time to think about your decision. I am not telling you to switch but you will be happier with Verizon in the long run. Believe me I have worked for both companys and I have been much happier with Verizon. Its bad when Major Account Mgrs. are worried about the switch to Alltel......Just some food for thought...... 🙂

Either someone found a hack for enabling the OBEX, or Motorola shipped out some phones with full bluetooth. Some Verizon users have complained that they bought the phone, based on reading peoples' posts on here and howardforums.com, that OBEX was enabled, but their phone had it disabled. I believe there are 3rd parties that can enable all bluetooth features on Motorola. Supposedly Motorola doesn't like disabling all of the bluetooth and only do it for specific carriers, then possibly help people get the features to work again through tech support. I don't know how true that is, but it would be nice. Samsung hasn't been nice at all on bluetooth for Verizon phones, but some individuals are already finding hidden menu options on their phon...

In order to swich companies I would have to wait until next December to do so, because I have 2 family lines on my account both under contract 1 til next August, and the other til next December, and I don't want to pay a termination fee, however I have been concidering Verizon, I have some time to research it and decide later. 🙄

Alltel is a much better company than Verizon. I know that if you have Alltel in California or New York you are roaming on Verizons network. But if you have Verizon guess who's network you are roaming on in the midwest and the mojority of the US? Alltel owns and operates the largest digital network in the USA. Verizon and Alltel have roaming agreements that they share towers. But Verizon needs Alltel much worse than Alltel needs Verizon.
Only advantage Verizon has on Alltel is the fact that Verizon owns the towers in the Major markets like Miami, New York, California. But Alltel owns a much larger coverage area.

You might get flamed for those statements...but as an alltel employee I cannot disagree with you and in fact I could not have said much of what you said any better!!! If only Alltel could get spectrum in the major markets.

So back to the original question, does OBEX (file transfer) work or not with Alltel, I couldn't fin a disclaimer on the Alltel website, so I assume it does, but I would like to know for sure.

I have heard it does onthe razr but I guess the best way to see if it is what you want is too try the 15 day guarantee. Also questions are always being answered at allwirelesstalk.com, just tell em daddydogg_00 sent ya!!
