ALLTEL abandons USR / SSR employees
Effective April 2nd, all Sales & Service Reps and Universal Service Reps merged into one position: Wireless Consultants. USR's were once paid a higher base salary with a lesser emphasis on sales/quotas, while SSR's were paid less base, but higher commission.
This affects USR's the most because they were never accustomed to selling, rather taking care of inventory, repairs, etc...
Also, imagine you've been with Alltel for say 15 years as a USR and you make $20/hr. Alltel would drop your base to $13/hr and tell you to immediately sell to meet quotas you've never seen, or be placed on a PIP and later be fired.

Most USR's took around a $2 an hour paycut and got a small quota. The USR's in my store have been selling a lot anyways so they stand to make a lot more. Difference is they now have to earn it instead of it being handed to them.
