Alltel employees will be linked up via in-store plasma TV or live web-feed for company-wide conference discussing "the biggest announcement of the year."

Keep your eye on Alltel's stock price. Verizon has been struggling, Alltel has shown that they are willing to open their wallet and buy out other carriers throughout America. Could Alltel finally be ready to become a Tier 1 national carrier?

But then again it could just be something to do with new phones being released. The following handsets have been recently phased out: Avx-Cdm 8910al, Nok 6255i(a), Mot V710, Mot V265(2), Kyo KX1 (Soho), Kyo KX424 (Blade), KYO KX434. That Moto contract looks tempting for Alltel. New Samsung flip/camera, new LG flip/camera as well as rumors of the M...

HMM I wonder now. I thought I heard something like this from my manager in a voice mail the other day but I could not understand the message. I would not be surprised if it had something to do with something really big cuz this type of meeting is completely unprecedented for us employees.

Man, I'll be ready to get a new phone on Apr 10th (it's my 90 days) and I was all ready to get my Slider Remix. My Rave fell in the rain and although it still works, the battery goes down so fast. I'm so exicted to get my new phone, but should I wait until this huge announcement comes out? I don't want to get my phone and then have something cooler come out ๐Ÿ™‚

Verizon has been struggling? last quarter they posted the highest net adds in wireless history with over 2 million and churn was low at only like 1.3 percent.

how is that struggling? how is alltell going to afford verizon wireless? never going to happen ever. Verizon wirelesss wouldnt let it happen, Vodafone wouldnt let it happen, the FCC probably wouldnt let it happen, and Verizon cummunications wouldnt let it happen.

come on guys, use your domes.

Alltel gained 1.6 million customers just from the Western Wireless acquisition. With over $6.3 billion in overall wireless revenue in 2005.

Take a look at Alltel's share prices compared to Verizon Wireless'...Alltel could easily swallow them up. But they continue to pick apart the smaller markets throughout the US.

you are quite the uninformed alltel rep. alltell has like 14mill customer with no landline backing. verizon has 51.3 million with a huge landline company backing them (verizon communications) and a huge international cell phone company (vodafone)

alltel couldnt afford Verizon wireless if they wanted to, and if they could it wouldnt be for sale.

But Alltel at the moment doesn't have the big bucks to make such a big buyout of Verizon Wireless. I don't believe they even have enough money in stock to make such a purchase. As for the one who posted about the FCC might not allow Alltel to buyout Verizon, if it were to happen. I say if Verizon Wireless were to sell, Alltel wouldn't have to divest that much of Verizon W...

It probably will not happen. Financially Alltel is as strong as they get but buying Verizon is a big stretch. And to the one about Allltel not having land line they actually just spun off the landline to allow them to focus and grow on wireless. I have to disagree with the wireline statement cuz I have heard VERizon Wireline is struggling and they are thinking about concentrating on Wireless also. Wireline is a dying business with so much competition and many people even doing away with landlines or going to their cable company or even Vonage and other VOIP.
PS I did say Verizon Wireline is struggling becuase I know wireless is very strong.

Alltel would not be concerned with an other facet of Verizon besides WIRELESS. They spunoff Valor, why would WIRELINE even be an issue...You even contradicted yourself with the whole VZW / Verizon Comm being 2 separate companies...

I was in no way serious that Alltel would swallow up VZW in 2 weeks, w/o the stocks nose-diving leading up to it.

Just fanning the flames of rumor, buddy.

actually maybe you should re-read my post.

you mentioned that verizon landline was struggling, so i informed you how that isnt relivant as they are two seperate companys.

you mentioned how alltel could buy verizon wirelss, i mentioned how you would have to deal with both seperate companys, plus vodafone to do so, and lets be real alltel doesnt have the money to do something like that.

KellyB I am in the same situation.

My contract ends July 16th I believe, meaning April 16th is my 3 months. I was planning on getting the RAZR or Slider Remix. I too have the Rave, and it too has fallen in water. My battery does not stay on for more than two hours (Fully charged) and I do not feel like buying a battery for the worthless phone. I read all the reviews and it seemed like the E815 is the best, but I do not want to wait that long to be honest. =|

ksw- Man, that's funny! I believe my contract ends July 9th. I wasn't even aware of the 90 days until I went in to ask exactly when my contract was up. I was so excited to know I only had a little over a week to wait, then I hear about this crazy announcement. I honestly like my Rave and I'm surprised it works at all after falling in pouring rain for over a minute, but I want something with some more bells and whistles, and I really do like Kyocera. It's very easy to use. I'm not a big Motorola fan. I like the Razr, but a lot of people say that it's fragile and that the earpiece is not loud. Those are 2 things I do NOT want to deal with. Plus EVERYone has it now. I almost don't even care what this April 18 announcement is going to b...

C. Easy to use and functionably

D. Good camera

I need reception becuase my Rave was not cutting it.

kellyb,
You said "I like the Razr, but a lot of people say that it's fragile and that the earpiece is not loud." I personally have never had a less fragile phone, it is very solid, and as for the earpiece, I can hear loud and clear, I say give it a try for yourself.

Yeah, I'm kind of torn between them. I just know of a lot of people who have the razr now who have dropped them and they broke or something happened and it's not working the same. Plus I'm kind of used to the kyocera system now. I don't know. I have 4 more days to think it over๐Ÿ™‚
