Heavy rumors that the April 18th announcement centers around Alltel data services changing from Verisign over to Motricity. Their Fuel 5 platform will power Axcess Mobile Web / Apps.

that is very possible. Sounds like we have to use the platform this friday but I bet this one is more or less for the office sync product.

I have heard that (supposed to be around Mid April?) that they are coming out with a 'push' type system for the smartphones the way it does with the blackberry.
I will say the office sync is pretty neat...will be an easy sell!

Man, I'm sure glad you are joking! If you were seriously thinking that you need major help.
It's more like, Verizon purchasing Vodafone's stake in Verizon Wireless and then in 2010 a very hard consideration on acquiring Alltel. Here is the facts:
A quote from Verizon Wireless CEO regarding acquisitions and spectrum auctions:
“We will do one or the other; it’s very unlikely that we will do both,” said Denny Strigl, chief executive officer of Verizon Wireless. He added that the company feels it is in a good spectrum position until about the end of this decade. In terms of its network, Verizon made clear that CDMA 2000 1x EV-DO Revision A is on its to-do list.

ya some idiot thought that alltel could afford to buy verizon wireless and that the announcement was coming on the 18th. it was quite funny

I really do not know anyone saying it was about buying verizon rather than just making a [purchase. Verizon is too big to be easily swallowed up and an announcement like that would not be put off for two weeks.

The big deal was not as big as evryone thought. Still ging to be great for the customrs. Call 10 friends for free. In addition to m2m you can pick any 10 nmbers in the US that will be appled o your m2 calls. Of course this is on plans $59.99 or higher!
Of all national carriers Alltel is the only to offer this. (I have heard SunComm has it)
