What is so great about the Q? It's thin and it has windows mobile. Ok, that's fine. From my understanding it doesn't have a touchscreen, and it's got that wheel lie the Blackberry. I knoe for me that is a pain to use. I tried the Blackberry and HATED it. I was much happier with the Treo and and even more so with the 6700.

It's EV-DO and people like the name Motorola...plus its low light and thin...I wouldn't get it, I'm still waiting for Alltel to get the Palm 700 so I can demo that out instead of my Palm 650

switch to verizon. The q and 700w and 700p have been out for forever it seems. if you want a data device vzw is the only way to go. alltel can't support or handle the data usage like they should for them especially not nationally. it's a waste of money to be with alltel in my opinion.

LOL
I'm sorry, but that is incorrect. The entire Alltel network is 1x, and they have EVDO markets in almost all major cities they cover and are expanding EVDO rapidly.

you mean verizon's network right? you can't really call alltel a network, they aren't big enough, it's more like a GROUP of towers that are 1x and some evdo areas in the group. and that group of towers is under too much strain. that's why it takes days to get simple text messages.

Verizon's "reliable" network A.K.A. Alltel's roaming agreement is smaller than Alltel's network, I dont have probs with TXT MMS, you might need a PRL update of something, Cochese

Alltel also cost less. With a voice plan of only 39.99 you can get unlimited data plan nationwide no roaming for only 29.99 with a smartphone. That savings will add up quick.

Alltel has THE largest network in the United States of America. It covers more land then any other. Verizon's is actually smaller. It may cover higher populated areas overall. But it is NOT bigger. Niether is Sprint, niether is Cingular.

I get voicemail notifications, text messages, pic messages, and video messages almost instantly. You are just wrong, Verizon is not THAT great settle down. Alltel is taking customers from all three big guys where they offer service. If you don't believe look up the growth numbers.

that seems impossible. how can they cover more LAND but not more population? do they not cover cities is that where they use vzw? do they just cover farmland? how does that work? I am curious.

Yes that is right. They do not cover large metro areas. Their goal right now is to be largest rural carrier. Which they are. They cover more land geographically then any other carrier. Carriers like Sprint, Cingular, VZW, and T-Mobile are national carriers that concentrate on main highways and cities. They miss out on a lot of people that live off the main road. Granted, Verizon of all those does the best at expanding beyond the main roads they still don't do it as much as Alltel. It is also a product of the liceneses each has. Alltel is mostly on the cellular band, which provides larger coverage area per tower then the PCS which is mostly used by the others. There are some areas where VZW and Cingular has cellular coverage. But Sprint and T...
