i have the KRZR and yesterday my signal changed from "D" to "EV". i looked in the manual and it didn't have that icon listed. i wasn't able to check with the alltel store in my area because they were closed for some odd reason. i know its not roaming unless alltel just left my city and every other city close by. any help would be great.

i'm sorry ahead of time if this is a stupid question.

The only way you will be charged is if a triangle is on your phone and it not blinking. Blinking is ok.

EV just means that You are in an area where Alltel has expanded their EVDO high speed data coverage. This will not charge you anything at all. You may recieve a few more dropped calls while they are testing it out though. Before they completly launch it you phone will be going in and out of EVDO.

Evdo can transfer data as fast as 2.4 mbps. while 1x (likely your current data coverage), transfers at the most about 144 kbps.

I don't know about Alltel phones, but my VZW Samsung a930, it shows 2 icons for reception, along with individual signal strength bars. EV for EVDO with its own rec...
