Ok. all you Alltel experts. What is the best CDMA phone for reception? I travel in a lot of rural areas.

Second criteria for my girlfriend...What is the best camera phone?

Thanks guys,

The Motorola E815 is the best CDMA phone for reception. Although it is all digital. So if you are in an area that has only analog coverage that could be a problem. You could look at a tri-mode phone that is close enough to e815. The LG AX355 is ok. Where exactly will you be for the rural areas? Most areas are all digital but there are those far off places where analog is the only thing in town. Best camera...I don't really know for sure. I would say the RAZR, although the 815 has the same camera. Maybe the new KRZR is the best. If you are in a known analog area then you might want to look to eBay and get Moto V710 as new as possible. That phone has the same great reception but it has analog instead of evdo.

There is no way that is possible.

The E815 is widely known as possibly the best CDMA phone in the biz. Nothing has come out to beat it or the V710 yet. The only thing about it is sometimes there will be firmware bugs, but other then that it is extremely well made.

At bar phones Nokia may be the best. At flip phones they really don't try very hard. Especially CDMA phones. They are even going to stop making CDMA phones and stick with GSM only....

It will still be out there branded nokia but made by pantech or another company.

i laugh at you until you try an 815. i had 3 6255's and 815 kicks ass.

most any other forum with knowledgable users will concur that 815 is the best cdma phone available

Thanks for the information guys and sorry for the delayed response to all your suggestions as I had to go to Germany on an unexpected trip.

The LG AX355 looks like an intersting choice, so I am leaning in that direction. It has gotten a lot of good reviews and I really have to have analog because I travel into some really rural areas which have not switched over to digital yet.

FYI, I use an unlocked Moto Pebl when traveling overseas and I am very pleased with it. Having said that, keep in mind I am not a gadget junkie so I never use all the features of any phone that I have had.

Alltel rules.

What about the Nokia 2865i. I don't personally have it but I have heard some good things about it on other forums. No camera though on this one.

Well you are right about this one. But for reception in rural areas it may do well because Nokias generally have good RF. It is also a Tri-Mode phone, so it will have the advantage over dual digital until all analog areas are covered with digital.

That Nokia is a good basic phone, and probably one of the best for the price. I think it is 9.99 with a 2 year contract...

The question was what was the best CDMA phone, not the best gadget. I currently have the 6255i and think it is a very good phone, however I don't use most of the extras and wish I would not have spent the money to get it. Just a person preference I guess, to each his own.
