The longest it will go is until January. But it should be finished before then. Then you will have EVDO full time.

You may want to check the howardforums board on how to shutoff EVDO temporarily, unless you're waiting for it to go live and use EVDO. I'm in a Verizon EVDO market and I had to turn off EVDO because it's spotty in my area, and drains my battery. Alltel is releasing it mostly in the cellular band, so coverage will be equal, but I live in the Chicago market, where Verizon has both cellular & PCS, but EVDO is only in the PCS band, and the PCS network is poorly built in the overlapping market.
