difference between mobile link and axcess?
alltel has "axcess", "mobile link" and "broadband" which is pretty limited as far as coverage area and i'm wondering:
1) which uses ev-do. anyone know?
2) is their "broadband" service the only one that uses ev-do and if so,
3) do the other carriers like sprint and verizon have better coverage areas for their broadband service? thanks

Coverage-it depends on where you are. Let me know about where you are and where you plan on using it and I will tell you which carrier has the greater data coverage. Alltel just expanded their EVDO service by a lot and there is a good chance that it may be the right one for you. But I'll check them out for your area.
All of them use the EVDO. Axcess is for the phones it is an internal browser that uses wap.
Mobile link uses both 1xrtt and EVDO like all the other carriers. This can be used by tethering your phone to a computer, or if you have a smartphone that can browse the net by itself without wap.

Okay, well in that area the coverage is very similar for EVDO between Alltel, Sprint, and VZW. I believe Alltel or Sprint would be your best bets though coverage and money-wise. Alltel roams for free on Sprints EVDO on the east side of the state and has a large EVDO footprint themselves in central and west Florida. Looking at the street level map for sprint you can see holes in the EVDO coverage for Fort Myers. I think you will be better off with Alltel overall, more contiguous coverage. Unless there is a large price difference.

No problem, your welcome.
