Fresno is free roam of either Verizon or Sprint. It is not paid roaming unless you go off the beaten path near Yosemite national park.

Why are people so put off by this? Guess it is a stigma/selling point thing or something...

The roaming is really not that big of a deal. The only place where it is an issue is Kentucky with Appalachian Wireless. Some northern parts of Maine. That's it, and if you get any charges while in the coverage area for some reason they will refund them.

Well just so you know soldier_monkey, if you are considering Alltel, and you don't live in one of the places I mentioned there or don't have any plans of traveling in areas where there are roaming I would be too worried about it.

Alltel has bad practices. They have an excuse for everything. They don't like to replace your phone if it malfunctions, you'll be l...

Rebates are handled by a third company, but yes they take a long to get.

Their customer service isn't awful, at least when comparing it to all the service providers.

It sounds like you got a lazy/uninformed/new rep. some of eastern Washington state is roaming as well I forgot that. Out side of the major highways there it has roaming. Usually the reps will offer you the 100 minute free to roam option they have.
