I have just noticed them showing alltel commericals on my local cable tv. I am currently located in chattanooga, tn, and was wondering if alltel has launched service in my area. I went to there website and put my zip code and it says that that I am not in there coverage zone. I also noticed when visting family a week ago in marietta, ga they were showing the commericals. Do they normally advertise where they do not have any coverage except for roaming agreements?

Yes it is cheaper to market nationally for them then to just pick each market they are in. Actually many of the carriers do this. You can't get Sprint, VZW, Cingular, or T-Mobile every where. But you see advertisements for them all the time. VZW and Cingular have been marketing on tv here for going on 3-5 years or so, they both only just built towers and allowed new customers in the area about a year ago.

Oh yeah. The nearest Alltel area in Tennessee is in Morristown. Maybe somewhere in Alabama/a little south of Marietta, Georgia.
