u620 vs LG VX8600

this is what i already have posted on the Verizon board:

I know, I know... one is a slider and the other a flip phone, but is anyone here knowledgable enough on these phones to say whether or not the u620 would cut it compared to the VX8600? I would like to try out a slider for my new phone but I want to make sure it's going to be a capable enough of a phone. The reason for this particular comparison is that I was previously shopping for a VX8600. The only advantage it has over the 8600 that I can think of is a real speakerphone. I'm not gonna be using the TV function but I don't have much of a selection through Verizon when it comes to slider phones.

Also, I think it's been covered that it's still possible to create your own ring tones, but is this true with the Samsung phone(s)? I noticed people complaining on another message board that this isn't possible with the u620. Does it change across different phone brands/manufacturers?

Is the u620 a worthy opponent to the LG VX8600? Not considering the difference in style (slider vs flip), would I be advised NOT to get the u620 over the 8600?
