GMAIL on the SYNC A707???

Has anyone figured out how to make the GMAIL MOBILE APP work on the SYNC A707?

It's a well known bug, and as always, the manufacturer (samsung) and the provider (at&t) disavow knowledge of it or run people in circles who persist through the rhetoric.
