Redundant Phrases
How often have your heard a friend say something like this: "It is a free gift.", but how could a gift be
anything but free? You would surely feel it to be an unfair use of word "gift" if you were to be charged
for it!
Have you ever forgotten your PIN Number for the ATM Machine? The problem, of course, is that PIN
means Personal Identification Number, so you don't need to say "Number" afterwards. In fact, it's quite
wrong to do so, for what is a Personal Identification Number Number? It's probably the telephone
number you have to call if you have forgotten your PIN.
ATM machine is also redundant because ATM stands for Automated Teller Machine. So when you say
ATM machine, it means Automated Teller Machine machine.
Most of us are guilty of making such errors. These redundant expressions and acronyms are called

I cant help but get excited each time I think that we only have seven
months to go for the big day, "Graduation Day". We all have one goals
right now, it is to finished college. There is always the question like,
"What will you do when you've graduated from college"?. The transition
into and out of college can be both exciting and scary. There will be new
challenges, oppurtunities, unwritten rules and embarssment around every

ultimately, our first real job?
