V551 and Razr V3 -- Which one has the best reception?

Am trying to decide between the V551 and the Razr V3 with reception being the most important factor as we are at the fringe of the nearest Cingular tower. Which one has better reception?

I have never used a Razr, and right now I have an unlocked v505 from ATTWS. I bought a replacement extendable antenna and the reception improved markedly indoors. I would suggest checking out the 551 since it does have the stub antenna. Logic tells you that an external antenna would have more surface to pull in the signal than an internal one. Also, check that the antenna on the 551 simply unscrews, if it does you can then find small extendable antennas online for $10 or less.

Neither...get a Nokia...either the 6010...or the 6230 ENS version....nokia has always by far and away outperformed any phone as far as reception goes.

I've looked at the 6230 and like its small size. Others have also written that it gets bettre reception than the V551 and the V3.
What is the 6230 "ENS version." I haven't seen that version online.

The ENS version is a version that is better at selecting between Orange/ and Blue networks...basically picks up better when choosing ATTWS/Cingular towers....they should be at most stores now.....just ask the sales rep if they have the ENS version of the phone in stock. It also says ENS on the outside of the box.

Just wait for the 6230i if you want the best service. Personally I am a die hard Moto fan and love my V3 and V551 (hated my v600) but definately suggest the 6230i when it is availible 🙂

i actually use both, side to side. i own the razr for my personal phone, and the company gave me the v551 for my official use. I get better reception with the razr, most of the time. the razr also is a cooler phone, unless you want to be able to take video like the 551 can.

I got my Motorola v551 in January and I have never had any problem with the phone or the service. And my bars never drop below 3, at the least.
