when i plug in my V3 for charging, the ring style automatically changes to loud. how can i specify ring + vibrate style for plugged and unplugged?

please note: this is an orange france phone, the users manual came in french, but i downloaded a PDF manual in english. but have not been able to find the answer to my question.

i just want to be able to *directly* download photos to my computer from my phone. do i need the $25 "motorola compatible" usb cable from cingular? is it possible that there is a cheaper manufacturer for the same exact cable? (PS - the v220 isn't even listed on the box as being supported by the cingular-supplied cable)

and why do i need the extra "data access" feature added to my voice plan? you mean we have to pay extra just to download the photos on our phones? note that i don't want to email the photos to anyone, just move them to my computer!

and why do i have to have the cingular "connection manager" software if all i want is to connect the cable to my computer from my phone? the instructions tell me to go online and log on ...

the v551 records video in what format? i ask this because whenever i send video no on can seem to open the video and thast annoying. how can i get my video clips to be viewed on the pc?

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the "capabilities" of the v551. I read heard something about you being able to unlock the phone. What does it mean to unlock a phone? They also said that you can change the faceplate. Does anyone know anything about any of this? They said you can change the startup/shutdown screens and sounds and change the external display. Please give me some feedback bc i would like to see if there is any truth to this? Have any of you done this? Thanks. Chad

Okay I have heard bad things about Motorola like weak signals, etc. Some even called them pieces of junk. Yet I have seen good reviews on v878 and v551. I have done my homework and like features on these two phones. Nonetheless, I wouldn't want to waste my money. If you ever used these two phones, please give me advice and comment on their battery life, signal strength, and ringtones and volume and such.

I am also looking at the Sharp TM150. I know this is Motorola forum...but just in case you know something about it..as compared to the two Motorolas.

I looked around the forums a bit and didn't see anything on this.

I moved from ATT to Cingular last week and got a new v551. What I've noticed is that when typing a text message (and other times, just more noticable then) the key lights go on and off sometimes when I hit the buttons. Has anyone else notcied this? I'll probably go back to the store where I got it and look at replacing it. Just curious if anyone else saw this or not.

In case anyone wants to know in relation to this, the software version is: R47_G_08.17.0FR_01

This is sad, but I have a v551 and can't seem to figure this out. Is there a way to do type ahead searches when looking up an address? What I mean is, when I press "m", the phone jumps to the m's. I want to be able to type "mi" and have the phone jump to "Mike". Instead, it jumps to the m's, then jumps to the i's. Any ideas?

If I stay logged into AIM from my V600, does that use up even more battery life? I'm running the one from the main menu of my phone.

Has anyone here had any troubles with the microphone on the MPX-220? I've had 2 friends who had it randomly stop working, 1 had to get his replaced, the other had the mic stop working yesterday (While I was talking to him, I had to have him hit the 5 key and the 9 key for yes or no answers.)

When I try to send my Phonebook from my T610 to my V551 I can only send one contact at a time. Is this normal. I sure hope not. This is my first motorola Bluetooth phone. I have been using Nokia and Sonyericsson. both allow you to do alot more with the Bluetooth it seems.

I just picked up the V710 at my local Verizon Store, and I'm very disappointed. The phone seems very fragile and is certainly going to get all scratched up - if not broken - in a few weeks. The keyboard is strange and somewhat awkward. I have a bluetooth car kit built into the sound system in my car, and the bluetooth works intermittently. Sometimes it will connect with the phone and sometimes it won't. The sound quality that comes through my car sterio speakers when it works sounds terrible. My old Samsung phone car kit with the single little speaker sounded much better. The final straw was when I had my son call me on my home phone from the car using the V710. The sound quality was aweful. He wasn't even using the bluetooth beca...

I currently have the nokia 6200 but it's been dropped a few times, etc etc. I can upgrade to the v180 for free, which I've heard is a good phone. I just want excellent reception, I don't care about games, cameras etc.

does anyone know where i can get T-Mobile branded firmware for the V600?? if not what is the latest s/w & flex?? my phone is running TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.2FR & Flex: GS9V600AWSTONA128... are these really old versions?
