the same reason that when you have your TV on for 10-15 minutes and you put your hand on the vents...it's machinery...it shouldn't be burning though...if so take it into the store and have a tech look at it

I have used my phone (8900) for over an hour and it has not been THAT hot. If it bothers you that much, wear an ear piece or use speaker phone.
