I just got this phone and have questions (Sprint)
PC sync / USB capability:
So like the retail box comes with the phone, battery, charger, microSD, and papers. I'm pretty sure I won't be syncing unless i can sync it to my tungsten T5 but I am wondering can I move mp3s and other files for ringers etc to the phone via USB or do I got to take out the miniSD, use the adapter, then put it back in the phone.
Making my own ringers and other customizable stuff:
I know there are web sites out there and I can get ringers and background etc from and even sprint via vision. But it seems like more money than I want to spend for limited usage. So I want to know how do I make ringers? I am assuming I can use MP3s to do this. Would www.mixxer.com work if there is no alternative that to use the tex...

Syncing is easy if you buy Moto phone tools (check ebay). Sprint & moto help desk will tell you it doesn't work or it is not supported, but it does work. It works best with bluetooth. I have a hard time with a USB cable.
My laptop has bluetooth so mine works great. ringtones without doing crazy text messaging, pictures, MP3s, Outlook - no problem.
If you want to use your phone as a modem you have to buy a PAM plan with Sprint - there is no hack I know of to make it work without.

To use bluetooth for adding ringers etc do I need the moto phone tools or can I simply just beam the stuff with my PDA via bluetooth to it? And what is a PAM plan? I don't recall seeing anything on the site. I do remember seeing into of vision. Is that what I need if I want to connect my PDA to the internet via the phone?

You can bluetooth MP3s over w/o phone tools. You have to surf Sprint site more and you will find their PAM plans. They start at $60/mth. The vision plans will let you surf the web and watch TV and all that other stuff but it will not let you use your Phone As Modem (PAM).

Can I backup the phonebook and settings and stuff using bluetooth? It appears the battery and/or charger system is faulty on the phone because in 24 hours or less of standby the battery needs charging again. It took me forever to enter all my phone numbers and set ringers and alter the settings.
$60 a month thats like crazy... why isn't it part of vision? They state unlimited data for the vision service shouldn't that include PAM? Your probably not a sprint employee, I'm just asking out of curiosity kind of food for thought. Consider you can have PDA phones I would think that vision would include browsing the web but without PAM even with a PDA phone you can't view stuff outside of whatever is part of the wireless web or whatever its call...

My 1st battery was defective and would also only last 24hrs. Sprint swapped it for me and my new battery now gets at least 3 days with average use.
I don't work for Sprint (I sell drugs 😁 ). Unless you are a business user, I can't imagine paying $60 either. I would be willing to wager that if Sprint would lower to $15/mth they would be able to raise their market share, revenue & margin. Give them a taste for free, they'll be hooked for life 😈

I guess its not a big deal if all that has to be done is a new battery is given and not the whole phone is replaced. The 1st two charges only lasted 24-48 hours on 99.9% standby. I made a few calls of only maybe 1-2 minutes each. I don't use my phone all that much so when I get one that says its supposed to get 17 days of standby and 210 minutes of continuous talk I'd expect to get close to it. But even on the 3rd charge with still only more than 99% standby time I got 4-5 days before a new charge was needed. But thats not even the amount of talk time its supposed to have.
I don't use the phone for anything but calls or to check the time here and there. At best in one month I use about 300-400 minutes so if I talk at most its 15-20 minute...
