MP3 as Ringtone?
I've tried the one suggestion in this forum, saving as MP3, opening in Windows Media Player and saving as .midi but that did not work. Unless I'm doing something wrong?
Seems like a no-brainer, a phone that can play MP3s should be able to use them as ringtones. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Now for the real test - is there a way to transfer them over using the memory card as opposed to emailing them to myself?
Thanks again.

ok, you're right. i have successfully sent myself mp3s and saved them as ringtones. so far it seems like they need to be 64 bit, can anyone confirm that?
Please post a more detailed explanation of how you sent yourself an mp3 and saved it as a ringtone.
Thanks

you add it as an attachment! and it should work.. this is also a great way to email yourself wall papers 😁 😁
1. Create your MP3 ringtone (try to keep it under 30 seconds and under 300KB).
2. Send an email to (your mobile number)@vzwpix.com with the MP3 attached. (ex. [email protected]). I've had good success sending from AOL's webmail or Outlook Express. Eudora did not work.
3. You should receieve a pix message with the MP3 attached. Press Options and choose the Save As Ringtone option.
4. Enjoy
Thanks.
Many thanks

I have two on my phone right now, I would just save the mp3 you have as an midi file, see if that works for you.
How do you do this?
Just change the file extension from .mp3 to .midi
Whats the best way to do that? (in win XP)
Say the file is called COOL and its on the desktop, it will show as COOL.
Now do this
START> CONTROL PANEL> FOLDER OPTIONS> VIEW>
(On the list will be)
Hide extensions for known file types
If the box next to it has ...
(continues)
1. Create you MP3 Ringtone (keep it under 30 seconds and less than 300KB)
2. Change the file from a .mp3 file to a .midi file (use the Windows "rename" function.
3. Send an e-mail number to (your mobile number)@vzwpix.com. I sent mine using Microsoft Outlook.
4. You should receive a message on your phone with a .midi file attached. Use the right soft key to access "Options". Select "Save as ringtone".
I've done 5 of these in the past couple days this way.
Good luck!
