Received phone today...charging question and opinion...

I got the phone today...came from a Treo 700WX. Very pleased with the screen resolution. Much better. Speed is fine. Can I charge it with a USB charger??? It doesn't seem to charge when hooked up to the PC.
Getting used to it and liking it so far.

Odds are it will require some driver on the part of the operating system. IE, i have to install the phone as modem driver in WinXP for my V3M to charge. However, in Vista it is just plug and play (or charge, rather), and no driver is required.

According to tech support, it should. When I have it hooked to the PC, the charge light is not on...should it be? I would like to hear from someone who has the phone.
Does it charge when hooked to PC via included USB cable? Does the charge light indicate that it is charging?

Tdrussell is correct. I just installed the VZAccess manager CD and my phone will charge with the USB cable.

I have installed the VZAccess Manager and USB driver. I have not seen an option or setting to charge through the USB or anything.
Can someone help me out with getting the phone to charge through the USB or VZAccess connection?

I am running XP. The thing is, I never saw an option to charge. Maybe it is a given and I am having some problems. I might try Samsung or VZW support tomorrow if I can't figure it out.

According to Verizon tech support it should charge. According to Samsung, it does not charge through USB.
Verizon doesn't know that or maybe there is a way...

I just talked to both Verizon and Samsung. Verizon wasn't really sure, so they connected me directly to Samsung technical support, who told me that they have different USB cables and based on the serial number of the cable, it was not a cable that provided both syncing and charging.
Then they connected me to sales, so that I could buy a cable that did both. The salesperson actually checked and found out that the USB cable will not provide a full charge (like the AC adapter) but will provide a trickle charge, so that the device will maintain the battery state and provide a minimal amount of additional charging, if the device is not in use.
It doesn't make a lot of sense to sell it with a cable that doesn't provide a full charge, so ho...

Received my power pack yesterday...the USB cable syncs and charges...love it.
