Treo 755p vs Moto Q vs Mogul

The Computer Ox

Jun 28, 2007, 9:03 PM
I recently had the unpleasant experience of trying all of these phones out and needed to spread the word. Before I go on a long winded description.. the Mogul won.. without any competition!!!

Let's start with the Moto Q:

Slim, light and fits easily in the pocket.. that is where all of the pleasures stop! If you actually USE the phone, not just carry it around, the battery is horrible. I was charging mine 3 times a day. Not because it was getting low, but because it was totally shut down and dead.
The odd non slip paint on the cover is neat at first, but if you put your phone in your pocket (like I do) then good luck getting it out! I refuse to be one of "those guys" with an almost fanny pack around my waist with all of my gadgets! I leave that to the police!
Since the phone doesn't work while it is dead.. my review is OVER!

The Treo 755p:

The heavyweight, in size and price. I am not sure who decided it was a good idea to put non slip paint on cell phones, but STOP! This phone, like the Moto Q, was like a roach motel.. went in but would not come back out of the pocket. I wear khakis, not tight pants!
The search tool was one main killer for me. You can set it up to look for a name in the contacts every time you go to dial a number from the keypad or not search at all. This is a show stopper! So every time you go to dial using the normal button keypad, you get your list of contacts being displayed by name... NOT NUMBER! In order to dial a normal number, one you do not have in contacts with a name, you will be forced to use the touchscreen keypad. Now why would you do that?!
Lastly, make the phone.. wait for it... wait for it... SMALLER!!!!! Or, at least paint a large Caddy logo on it!

Now for the HTC Mogul / XV6800 / P4000 / Titan:

First thing.. pick a name and stick with it.. but that is the only real bad thing I can report about this phone!!

The original night terrors about a new version of Microsoft OS were not realized! It surfs very fast on the net, opens files very quickly, and get this.. does a fantastic job AS A PHONE!!! I know.. I gasped at this concept as well! The side flip took a little to get used to, but I managed to not rip the top off trying to flip it up a hundred times.

If I were to whine about any item of the phone it would be the placement of the power button. Not sure where I would move it, but I would certainly move it.

With that said, I hope you have a better idea of which phone you would choose. Make sure to go over to DomainPet.com and look at the low registration fees!
