Ive set my sync function to push so it should only go out and retrieve my email if i push sync...however my phone keeps updating my email anywway...im trying to save battery life, which is why i chose the push rahter than the time interval...it seems i have to go to running programs and manually stop sync client each time...this doesnt seem right to me...please help

Typically, a "push" system will push email to your phone as soon as it hits the mail server.
The method you describe, "go out and retrieve my email if i push sync," is PULL technology.
The "push" refers to a server pushing mail to you, not your finger pushing a button to retrieve mail.
