Color (Wrong choice)
Rx
May 5, 2007, 9:24 AM
When will these people listen and learn. Business people like a dark phone that does not stick out like a Nascar advertisement on the belt. VZW and these phone companies take BRANDING to a new level. As silly as it sounds, I will not buy this phone because of the silver color. Why is it so hard to stick to black? Comments?

VZW overbrands their equipment to an "Intellect Insulting" degree. The whole thing about standardizing the user interfaces on the phones, for example, is not to make transitioning easier, as they claim...they are always disingenious about their motives, but, rather, to further brand their phones beyond the large and ugly logo. Cynical? Yes. True? Definitely.

The Sprint version is black.

You guys are completely right. It is BUTT UGLY! Look at the website from Blackberry and how classy the phone looks in black! When VZW is done with it it looks like something from the dollar store. And you're right, I'm a bank executive...last thing I want is a Glash Gordon / Star Trek Transponder looking phone on my hip.
Wonder how they will corrupt the new Blackberry Curve? Make it shiney???

I don't know guys. I have the 8800 (black) for work. I HATE it. Fingerprints are so pronounced on the black version that the police wouldn't have to fingerprint me if I got arrested, they can take my 8800 and put it in my file.
I am ditching cingular (cause their service is horrendous) and selling the 8800.
Getting this silver one when it hiots the stores. Will stay cleaner than the black....

Black is the New Brown.... 🤣

You certainly make a strong point. It would be nice to get whatever color you wanted regardless of carrier. Especially since, as you can see on this forum, people's tastes vary. Personally, I like it in either color. There's always the option to get a black cover for the phone that would make it a bit more conservative.
