I bought the voyager and used it for about 3 weeks. The touch screen was not working well. I would hit it multiple times and nothing would happen. It was very difficult to scroll through the contacts. You had to scroll your fingers "up" in order to look through the contacts. You have to constantly open the phone for many features such as voicemail or speaker phone. The email program was terrible. Really slow. And internet surfing was very slow. Sound quality was poor too.

This is a great phone to text, thats it!

Great phone for 15 years olds.

I love the Pearl, the technology is so far advanced from Voyager, they are not even close. If having your contacts and emails easily accessible to you is important, do not buy the voyager, stic...

I hear you but the Voyager is not a pda phone correct! To use the pearl you need a data plan, Yes?

You need a data plan but VZ just dropped the price to 29.99/month. I orignially thought the Voyager would work as a combo biz/personal phone but it is really only personal phone but even browsing the internet is better on the pearl b/c of the track ball.

First of all, no you do not need a data plan. Second of all, the pearl is useless without a data plan unless you just want to make phone calls and store numbers. Third of all, even with a data plan, the internet is not full html it's a dilapidated version. Only people who pay that much a month and actually need it use it for microsoft office.

I sell 3 carriers and we do not neccesitate a b.b./data plan with the purchase of a bb. However, the sales person does make a considerable amount more if one is sold so perhaps you are being fed lies. I'm not entirely sure though since I don't sell verizon. But this is neither here nor there.

What the hell would you use a data plan on a black berry for besides POP3 email? Let's face it, you can do POP3 email from laptops, desktops, internet tablets, non pda phones, etc. Why would you spend 30 a month for this? Especially considering that outside of POP3 usage the html is garbage, it is dilapidated, it is not full html. I'm not sure if it even lets you use cookies which alone would make half of the web useless for any fun site including ph...

hold on... you come in here feeding wrong information about being able to get a BB without a DATA PLAN in a VERIZON forum when you yourself DONT SELL VERIZON?

FYI... Verizon BB NEED/REQUIRE a DATA PLAN

Another carriers may do it different.. just because one does it doesnt mean the others do it as well

check your facts

You are correct, I checked it out, the BB is the only pda on which they require a data plan. However I'm not sure what this has to do with the rest of my post, all 98% of it that you didn't comment on.

1. The touch screen works great and very accurate. Did you set the calibration settings on it?

2. Scrolling through contacts is a breeze. One flick of the finger and im halfway through.

3. Never have I had to ope...

Bottom line

Blackberry Pearl technology is leaps and bounds ahead of this phone.

If you want a phone for ringtones and IMing your friends buy the voyager.

If you need to be connected for business this phone is not for you. And yes the email system flat out sucks and the web browser is slower and harder to navigate than the Pearl. The track ball rocks.

and the voyager is too big!

If you were going to use the phone for business then why did you get the Voyager in the first place?

I thought it could be used as both business and pleasure but it really cannot. It is a pure entertainment phone. I guess I can live with respecting that aspect of the voyager but I strongly feel you get the best of both worlds with the Pearl.

PS. I tried to download a Lil Wayne ringtone on the Pearl last night and there was not option to download it for the Pearl.
Win some and lose some.

Ok I better move to the Pearl board before I get hung out to dry over here

The bb's internet is complete and utter garbage unless you are using email or sending out microsoft office files, ms files being something the voyager cant edit. 30 a month for that? Give me a break unless your one and only need is email and you feel like paying for it and not using a free device or cheaper plan then the bb is not the best option. There's reasons why it costs more other than the touch screen.

Put the opera browser on the Blackberry. Works much better than the Voyager.
