V-Cast or Pearl for E-Mail--Opinions, Please

I have had the Voyager since it first came out and really like it. But I would like to be able to access e-mail on the go. Which would be better--biting the bullet and signing up for the monthly V-Cast (my work e-mail is web-based, so I can access it with the Voyager) or adding a Pearl w/ the $29.95 plan?
This probably sounds like a no-brainer, but I value your opinions (Phonescoop over the years has been my best source of info. on phones!).
Thanks!

i think you should keep the voyager, i live the email client, you can set mutiple email addresses, ive never used a blackberry so i cant speak on that but the voyager sends you email alerts when you get a email but u cant look at attachments, y i dont know, and it takes a couple steps to get to the email client

Thanks for the advice. But a question--if I go with the e-mail plan ($5.00 according to the VZW site), how does data usage work--am I charged (I do not have V-Cast) per message?
Again, thanks!

If you do not have an unlimited data plan, you will be charged per megabyte of data. The voyager is probably not the phone for you if you want to use data services but do not want to sign up for one of the unlimited data plans. These vary from time to time; check with verizon directly for current plans.

You should definately pony up the 29.99 and go with the pearl. I had a Voyager for 3 weeks and returned it. The email works so much smoother and better with the pearl, I use outlook express. The internet is much easier to navigate on the Pearl, the screen is far easier to read for both internet browsing and email. I was shocked how much quicker the fluid the Pearl's browser and email configuration were. Plus you can get a pearl for free if you are at your every 2 year mark. Call Verizon don't go to a store.
ps i think you have to log onto the net each time you check your email on the voyager.
