Voyager and vidoe playback?

I am interested in getting a new Voyager from Verizon wireless. I was excited to see it supports up to an 8 GB memory card because I wanted to be able to watch movies on it while I am traveling. Most of my movies are around 700 MB. Then today after talking to a LG rep he said that the Voyager DOES NOT play .avi or .mpeg files which is what all my movie files are.

My question is is there a fix, a patch, a hack or software you can get that allows the Voyager to play these video file types?

THANKS!!

You have to convert them.

You mean covert the file you are trying to play? The only file format that it will play that is even conceiveable it .wmv and that would be a pain in the butt. There is no way around it or a video player program you can install to make it work?

I understand that just converting the file to a type it already plays is a way to do it, maybe even the only way but certainly not an "easy" way to do it as I have so many movies already in .avi and such. Were you suggesting I just convert them because that will work or did you spend time and research if the Voyager could be made to play these types and after all that determine it would not ever do it?

I have tried to transfer over AVI & MPEG4 files created on a Mac to my PC so I can upload them to the Voyager, and they don't work. The sound works, but there is no video and the thumbnail in the "My Videos" section of the phone shows nothing. WMA files on my PC are the only ones that work.

The bigger problem is playback. I can only seem to fast forward a few seconds at a time using the arrow keys (even when I hold it down). So, if you watch the first half hour of a movie and then want to go back and watch the rest later, there is no way to get back to where you were other than going seconds at a time. Does anyone have a fix for this problem?

So there is no 3rd party software you can install (be it free or paid for) that will allow you to play videos off most all file types?

I don't believe you can install anything on the voyager that doesn't come from verizon via v-cast.

You can't watch all of your movie at once anyway. Just convert them as you want to watch them.
