Observations and Questions, Glimmer
hey all. i sell cell phones for 3 carriers and i have been so excited about the competition that has popped up for the iphone generation. the glimmer, i had incredibly high hopes for and even higher when they addressed the ascending ringer issue 'quickly' (couldve been much faster).
i'll start off by saying no place for the stylist but looping the string through a little hole? not nice.
the keypad sucks. its just so cheap feeling. it's razorish. blah is all i can really say. texting sucks on it, but i'm getting use to texting on the touch screen. so if you're a mad texter, i wouldnt convince you to get a glimmer. at all. =(
the slide option is definitely a cool concept and in the dark when it slides with the sound effect... oh it gets heads turning. was in a theater before a movie started and i forgot to shut my phone off and had gotten a text... about 4 people leaned over and asked what phone i had. i told them where i worked and sold 2 glimmers that week to those exact people.
now, the functionality of the hold button on the left upper side is key on using the phone imo. you can lock, unlock the phone from this button. very cool. right from there you can operate the full touch screen options just by unlocking it from the side button.
I still wish there was a way to lock the phone from sliding open in my pocket, but it's pretty much my own dumb fault for not using the phone case it came with huh?
=P
the goodies with the phone are grade A too. just alone with the phone case and the headset extension (inline mic adapter so you can plug in a 3.5 headset for music!) is just great. and you get a very nice screen protector that is absolutely unnoticeable when you slide it over your touch screen. does NOT effect the sensitivity of the touch screen. i love it.
the camera is awesome and the flash is pretty decent. it's not perfect, but it really has made it a lot of fun to use in darker places to take fast pictures. and viewing pictures, you can tap the screen to flip the viewing horizontal to vertical. and the shuffle background option is awesome. i do wish i knew a way to get more animated backgrounds but i'm uhm.. not being successful in my searches.
so that would be my question so far, if anyone else has found ways to put other animated backgrounds on their glimmer? besides buying.
=X
other than that, yea i have had to usb exploit for ringtones and such. why alltel would do this, i dont know.. or if it's an LG thing, bah @ you than.
overall, love the phone. some small software glitches sometimes, but i have used this phone for like 3 weeks and i'm incredibly happy with it. people hear me loud and clear and the speakerphone works awesome.
last question for me though is has anyone found ways to implement new color schemes besides the 4 that came with it? or perhaps replace them?
=)
