Yes it works, it's how I put the ringtones on my phone. Just choose the vx9100 as your phone model. Don't let it choose for you, do it manually. Once BITPIM has read your phone, look in the BREW folder, and poke around til you find (i think the number is) 10889 and find the folder "ringtone" That's where they go, you can just drag and drop. Once done, power the phone off, unhook the cable. After powered on your ringtones will be there 🙂

*DO NOT USE THE SEND AND RECEIVE BUTTONS* in Bitpim!! Also nobody seems to mention that to add ringtones you can right click on the folder and select add..also you can re-boot using the right click option.

I saw that from another user, he was just putting ringtones into the wrong folder.. he was putting in 10889 instead of 10889/ringtones. That's about all I know of.

About the send and end buttons, what happens? I have been using them with no prolems (yet) but if there's something bad, I'll use the reboot option you were speaking of (which I will now anyway, just curious as to what happened)?

I tried again: brew/10889/ringtones. The file had my ringtones but when I tried to add with bitpim, I got the message that access was blocked by the phone provider.
Wonder if there is a work around for that?

Oh yeah, make sure on top of what I sent you, I just popped back over to my reference page that shows the directories. It should be this..

/brew/mod/10889/ringtones

I dunno if you just forgot to type in mod or you really went brew/10889/ringtones. Make sure you go into the MOD directory after brew. Let me know.

I did go thru the mod directory. Just forgot to put it in the reply.

I just downloaded the latest version and it has the Dare listed. I was able to get it to work this time. Thanks.

Where did you get a latest version of BitPim that lists the DARE? I can't seem to find that.

So, just how do you select "vx9100"? The VX9100 is not listed in either the latest official release (1.0.5) or the latest beta.

I have 1.06 and it has the "LG-VX9100" listed in there. Try to find a more updated one, especially if they're showing the Dare in there now.

I have the beta version of bitpim but can't seem to get it to detect my phone.

I have the vx9700 (provider is telus, not verizon), and have tried using both that and the vx9100 in the phone wizard without any luck. I have also used 'auto' and 'COM3' as the communication port. In all cases the detection has failed.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Latest BitPim supports the Dare natively. It all works well, too. I even transferred stuff over Bluetooth.
