Is getting the new iPhone worth not having MMS?
I currently own a Sony Ericsson w580i and love it. Sure, I don't send pictures and sounds and videos often, but I still think it bites not being able to send and receive pictures and stuff without email. Seriously, I guess its okay when your friend who needs to see that photo or listen to that sound owns a blackberry or can afford email on a regular phone, but if their on a strict budget, I'd say bye-bye to being able to send those videos to them from the iPhone. Is it worth all of the new features that make the new iPhone better than the last, which does feature MMS?

Wow, I had no idea so many people used MMS and it was such a big deal. I always thought it was one of those silly little features that you play with the first week you own a new phone and after that it never gets used. I never use mine and I personally don’t know anyone that uses it more than a once in a while kind of thing.
I guess if it is that important to you then don’t get the iPhone. Personally I cant get past not being able to text when you tilt the phone to landscape.

I agree, I can't believe how many people are bent out of shape about not having mms. I personally don't care. I had the original iphone for 9 months and never really cared about mms. To each his own I guess.

For me it's not necessarily something I use all the time. But I do have friends who send me pictures, probably about once every week or two. Generally just goofy stuff while out & about. The real point for me is that mms is a very basic feature that almost all phones have now. On the other hand, most phones do not have email on them. People who have smart phones have email, but the vast majority of the population does not use smart phones. That holds up with my friends as well. Many of us do have smart phones and can email back and forth, but most of my friends have regular phones that don't have email on them. For them, if they want to send me a pic it's mms only. That's why I think it's crazy that a phone as advanced as the iPhone...

At the cost that is going to be, with the inclusion of GPS and 3G, will this phone be worth it just to play around with for a few months if you have the cash to do so?

Gps you can get on almost any phone and 3g will just make internet faster, its not much different I doubt its worth but its your call.

In my opinion I will still switch to the new iphone. I am currently using a bb curve with att, and I only rarely use the mms only because its on the device. Emailing and mms are simliar technologies. If you want to send a pic to a friend all you have to do is put their cell number@vzw or @sprintpcs...etc in your "to" field on the email and attach the pic and it will send like a mms to their phone. Once more people realize this mms will be a thing of the past. Besides some carriers have trouble processing pics/audio through their servers. we all have had to ask.. you get it yet" and that's my two cents

I never thought of MMS as such a big deal. If you want to text send an SMS and if you want to send a picture then just email it. It has a better chance of getting through with email than it does with MMS anyway.
Id say go for the iPhone and besides Apple updates it regularly and you'll be getting the best darn UI on a mobile phone to date!

As a business proffesional, I negotiate deals with customers every day. If there's one thing I have learned, it's this...don't throw all you've got at first because you leave no room for negotiation.
Apple and AT&T are businesses and are out to make money. They will be getting a huge influx of new customers with this phone. That is going to die down eventually, then what? They launch a firmware update with MMS and video, and all the people who didn't buy it at first will come back and get it...another big tide of new customers.
They're playing it smart. It's exactly what many of us do every day, but on a much larger scale.
