Why did you say "be informed"? ๐คจ
There are people who want to have a 3G phone for the U.S. and Europe. Since Nokia didn't build the E71 with wcdma 850/1900/2100 it is a logical question to ask if you get the 850/2100 version, will it work in the U.S. In other words, is there wcdma 850 coverage in most of the U.S.?
It would have been easier if Nokia had built this like other phones that have all three wcdma frequencies.
Sometimes people ask questions to get information. If you have information provide it. Otherwise just pass.
Is there wcdma 850 coverage in most of the U.S.?
Thank you.
So as to not thinking about the question, I did, and offered a simple answer. Hey, if you're spending ~$500 for a phone you'd be mad not to do lots of research on multiple sites.
What the man wants is a phone that works both in the United States AND Europe. That is what I want. Its amazing that he or I can even travel to Europe, given that we are so stupid and cannot determine which phone will work where. I had the same question, I know that there are 850 networks in the US and 2100 networks in Europe, the 850/2100 might seem to work in both places. But no, we are w...

it seemed ill-advised to recommend a phone for 850/2100 while an 850/1900 exists. Had it been clear what the user wanted I wouldn't have made the comment I did. I guess you might as well attack me for not being psychic enough.
As to your sad little rant, it's misplaced, inaccurate and completely out of proportion to my comment.
If I found E71-3, don't you think I came across E71-2 as well?
Most of us here have a somewhat good idea of phone offerings and capabilities.
Anyway, on at&t's tech support forum I asked about using E71-3 in the US. They said majority of their 3G is in 1900 band, but they could not offer a detailed map for 3G coverage by frequency. It's a no go for me.
Thank you all for answering.

Look, could this stupid thread just die. I have no ill will towards any of you (save Dennis, you're a overwrought %$^#head) and I truly hope you find exactly what you are looking for.
