If you have it, I'm sure you can de-brand it.
Enabling Wi-Fi, though, is another matter. It could simply be disabled in software, or they could have actually left a chip and/or antenna out of the hardware. No one should assume that it can simply be re-enabled in software until someone has tried and confirmed it.

Very true, but in the past, debranding has brought the gps back out.
