Quick Review - From Visiting Store Not Purchased

Just wanted to give a quick review here from just visiting the store at our local mall. I have a blackberry curve right now (ATT Work Phone) and a verizon cell. I was going to scrap the curve and my current phone to get the storm. But I'm considering waiting now for a few reasons.

Cons

Interface
- Seems slow and clunky. It's hard to explain until you have one in your hand but it seems slow to respond, you find yourself waiting between 1-5 seconds sometimes and don't try to do too many things at once, it only takes longer.
- Also moving from landscape to normal is very slow, at least a full 3 seconds before it render's itself again.

Pros

Buttons
- The new button feature where it gives you a response is actually very cool. It feels natural to the touch, you don't have to overpress it seems to work as expected and I feel is one it's best features of a "touch screen" phone. I'm sure you'll see more of this feature on other phones in the future.

Again this is only a quick review based on my limited playing time given to me by the verizon sales rep. For me I'm going hold out just a little longer. I think most blackberry users will have issues with the lagging screen response. That's the only thing that's holding me back right now. Don't get me wrong I think in the end it will be a great phone but for now, we need some more software updates.

Recommendations... Give it a month until they fix the bugs.

Hi Cannon:

I just came home from the North Brunswick, NJ store and played with one as well. I also spoke to a VZW rep behond the counter. The reason for the lagging is because the phone has a lot of pre loaded aps which eat the phone memory and making it slower for this reason. I liked the browser, which is much better than the EVDO on my Moto Q.

The ONLY thing that is holding me back on this phone is the push touch for messaging. I wish that it was a simple touch like on the iphone. I agree that the landscape to portrait reacion is slow. I was told that it is like this on the iphone as well.

Chris,
I was in the Toms River, NJ store across from the Ocean County Mall and found the same thing as the original poster. It did seem laggy. But I also think this could change with upgrades from RIM. All in all positive and this is from somebody who has no intention of getting the Storm at present (I use a different carrier). I do think its by far the best phone that VZW carry's. Good luck to all of those who get it.
