Sanyo SCP-6400
People say, "speak UP!!"
I just got the 6400 and I think it's a step up from my outdated Samsung N200. The Samsung wasn't getting good reception for the past several weeks, so I decided it was time for a change.
The 6400 is good so far, overall. It seems to get slightly better reception than the N200 (I'm in a crappy area, surrounded by high-rises that block most of the signals, so I don't expect stellar service.)
My main problem is that people say I sound very quiet, and they keep telling me to speak up. Even when I'm almost yelling, they say I sound "far away". I've tried holding the phone all different ways, but it doesn't help. I inspected the phone to see if anything was blocking the mic, but no such luck.
Is this an inherent problem with the 6400? Did I just get a "dud" phone? Is there some sort of control for the mic volume?

Well, it turns out the eBayer who sold me the phone as "brand new" was lying! 🙄 👿 I noticed a small scratch on the base, so I figured maybe the phone was damaged. I sent the phone away to a third party repair center and they replaced the microphone as well as the main board, both of which were damaged.
The phone works great now! My only complaint is that it sometimes gets lost in my pocket. 😎
