The update is being sent out as we speak, not to everyone at the same time, but staggerd. You will receive a notice on your Droid that an update is available for download, and then follow the instructions.

Today we will start to release the new, free software update for DROID by Motorola. It will be rolled out in a phased approach to groups of DROID owners over the next few days. You will not be able to “pull†the update via the DROID interface.
DROID owners will receive a notification on the device to install the update. The request will repeat periodically until installation is completed. NOTE: After you have received your notification, turning your DROID off and on will automatically launch the upgrade installation.
Verizon has released a statement here that explains what the release includes. Here’s the list it has posted:
