Battery charging while on/off
I just got the Droid yesterday and it's pretty much everything I hoped for. The only problem I seem to be having is an A/C charging issue with it. The white light next to the USB port stays on indicating a charge when I have the phone powered off. When I turn the phone on, still plugged in, it doesn't acknowledge that it is charging and the light on the side of the phone goes off. I have disabled GPS, Wifi and the other push services, but I still can't tell if the phone is taking the charge.
Sorry if this is a topic that's been covered already. I have looked through some of the other threads, but I don't seem to see anything showing the same exact type problem. Any help would be appreciated!
Try charging from a PC USB port; if it works correctly there, and you are using the supplied charger, your charger is defective. If you aren't using the supplied charger, the charger you are using is probably not compatible with the Droid.
If you are using the supplied charger, and it doesn't charge, and it won't charge properly from a PC either, then it sounds like you have a defective Droid. However, not all PC USB ports can source enough current, so this isn't a 100% test. You might want to try it on a couple of PCs. You might also try a different charger, if you happen to have ...
