okay, this phone is capable of faceplates. does anyone know who's selling or even manufacturing them?

Actually, it is. Just above the display are two rubber gaskets, remove them and then remove the screws. WOW! the face comes off... Hmmm... looks like faceplate MOD material to me. Think before you speak. 🤣
