"buggy software"? i don't get it..

can someone please explain to me why motorola claims they're reviewing the phone for "buggy software" when it's been available in europe for weeks? people here (hollywood "stars", execs, importers) have been using them just fine for weeks.

something doesn't seem right here. not to knock them, but hollywood "stars" don't seem like the brightest of people. would you put a buggy phone in their hands? would saying "i went to the oscars and all i got was this crappy moto phone that crashes all thetime." do them good? i can't think so.

i can't imagine a reason why they'd delay coming out with the phone, but all these excuses are just lame and make no sense. if the phone really is that bad, why have they been shipping out so many?

Ok all let me tell you what I have "heard" and it frankly makes the most sense of all the theories of why this has been delayed.

We are a minority, that is to say the people who understand and appreciate key phone features like Bluetooth etc.

The V400 and V300 have been wildly successful at a 99 price point after all the rebates and discounts.

They predict a 299 V600 and for the "average" person that would be "absurd" to pay 3 times as much for "the same phone" which they think it is.

Motorola has had "issues" making enough 300's and 400's for lack of parts many of which are in the 600.

While it is true that they will sell a lot of 600's they can be much more successful with cheaper models.

Rumor has it that while it was s...

I think that you are not giving people the proper credit. There is obviously a lot of people antcipating this phone.... Motorola knew this and that is why they ran numerous ads for the V600 during prime time television.
Also, you obviously do not understand manufactoring. The V600 uses the same platform as the V400, V500 and also the other Vxxx models coming out soon. The higher price point is mostly profit for Motorola.

It comes down to software glitches... not about their belief on who will buy out. I gurantee the V600 will sell more than the V400.

Also, I consider myself a AV enthusiast. I do not see why you are knocking Bose. I have a Lifestyle system from Bose and everyone that listens to my Home Theater on my Sony Wega loves the...

My point exactly on Bose, the average person loves it, it is NOT audio file type product.

It is the "free phone" of the "home theater" it is adequate and average.

Americans are in love with mediocrity.

You have no idea what you are talking about. The Bose system is one of the higher end systems that is available for people that do not want tower speakers. Most of the reviews about Bose are positive (their audiophile line).
I am not sure what you mean about americans are in love with mediocrity. Most americans are striving to be better than their neighbor, friend, etc. I think it is the exact opposite of what you are saying.

How would you prove that it is not an audiophile (not file!!!) system? You are probably one of those people that spend all of your money on speakers and can not even explain why those speakers are better. Talk to me again once you educate yourself

No highs no lows must be Bose, that is what us proffesionials in the AV business say...

Bose is the only company to sue Consumer Reports in 1972 because they said that the legendary 901 speaker sounded awful.Bose lost the case.

I have been in the consumer electronics business for 25 years and I can assure you that I have forgotten more about AV then most people know.

As for which speakers I own and why.

Dynaudio which is the only totally vertically integrated loudspeaker manufacturer in the world.

I am sure you don't know them since they are not at Sears, Best Buy or Sam's Club.

However since they make their speakers by hand in Denmark and don't just have people in South Florida assembling Taiwanese parts into a very averag...

I have heard of Dynaudio and have listened to them many times. I would classify Dynaudio with a company called Triad. But my point is still that the V600 will make Motorola more money than the V400. The average Joe will buy the V600.
Case and point!

This forum is designed to talk about cell phones...not speakers! Go to a Bose fanatic page and argue there.

And as far as the phone coming out in two weeks...I was guranteed to have a v600 in my hands by then. Will let you know when I get it!

Plain and simple... My Motorola rep said that the hold-up is no longer in their court. The software was fixed before the Oscars. Thats why you're seeing the unlocked versions and the Vodaphone versions flooding the market. My Motorola rep along with any rep you speak to when you call Motorola will simply tell you that even they are waiting to hear from AT&T themselves. The US launch is being held up by AT&T and the low-end Motorola reps aren't quite sure why, but they its not Motorola at this point.

I got a V600 about a month ago from my contact at Motorola. It was working fine for a few weeks and then all of a sudden crashed. All the buttons stopped working. He said that they are still working on software problems and that a batch of phones should be shipped out in 2 weeks. This information is Legit because he is in the upper managment part for the cell phone division at moto.

Not 2 weeks...late April now. This was released on Monday:

AT&T Wireless delays new Motorola camera phone
Monday March 8, 6:44 pm ET

Motorola, the world's second-largest cell phone maker, said in January that AT&T Wireless, the No. 3 U.S. wireless carrier, would carry the V600 starting in February.

Camera phones are the hottest part of the global cell phone market, but Motorola's lineup in that market has been plagued by delays.

"We needed to do some further testing on the device, so we've pushed it back to late April for availability," said Ritch Blasi, a spokesman for AT&T Wireless.

A Motorola spokeswoman said the delay was part of normal carrier testing of new phones and was not an indication of problems with the phone or...
