Is Mobile Phone Tools CD-ROM neccesary?

DO i have to have to software to connect the phone to computer, or will the USB cable work just fine by itself? Any advantages to having the software?

You dont need the software. The driver for the USB cable is on the net. I just did it today, works fine.
