Motorola V600
ordered mine today..
was away for the weekend, boy what a flurry of activity. want to thank cassie and everyone else for the positive information.
ordered it from plemix.com. i figured at the $575 price, with a headset, it's going to still come out cheaper than locking myself into a 2yr contract with AT&T or anyone else. now i'm free to come and go.
hopefully i'll see it in the next few days.
Now I have to figure out who's service I want to go with, AT&T or Cingular.

that's what i was thinking. of going with AT&T. tho i'm told Cingular is the only one who won't force you into a contract if you bring your own phone. i guess i can always get a "free" phone and sell it on ebay (no interest in keeping a backup phone).
Yeah, I'm not so worried about 1 year contracts. Plus, they'll be combined in 1 year anyway so either way you can't really go wrong. There is only a short-term difference.

I have AT&T, and I have to say I like the roll-over idea. I think it's great. All you have to do is get a plan for 1 month that is over what you need...then switch back down to your normal plan, beause all those minutes roll over there is no chance you will have to pay overage charges (unless you are grossly negligent) as you had those "roll over" minutes as your buffer.
I'm not impressed by the rollover program because Cingular gives you less minutes to start with than AT&T for the price. Example: Cingular Nation 450 Anytime Minutes 5,000 Nights & Weekends for $39.99. For the same price, AT&T National plan on the web says you get 650 minutes with Unlimited Nights and Weekends and Unlimi...

#1 You can get what AT&T Wireless considers their "National Plan" with a GSM phone. This goes into the debate, however, of what a national plan is (which has been the subject of recent Cingular commercials). AT&T considers their national plan one in which there are no roaming charges on the AT&T National GSM network which is the same for their TDMA National plan. Go off the network, you pay roaming. None-the-less they cal...

Scott. How long did it take them to send you the confirmation email for the purchase. Where able to get a phone number for contact purposes?
I'm not Scott, but I ordered my phone from Plemix on Monday, it shipped out on Tuesday and I received it Wednesday morning (today). And they wouldn't give me a phone number..just contact from email. And I didn't get the tracking number until 11:55p Tuesday (last night). I did get a confirmation email (without tracking) a few minutes after purchasing it from Plemix and Paypal.
I just got this email from them
"your order has been shipped, you will received the tracking number
later today when our system has updated all the info.
Thanks
Plemix.com"
I've been reading this forum since Sunday...and this morning I ordered one from Plemix.com.
I got a confirmation from PayPal, but never heard from Plemix.
I also can't wait to get mine. I'll be using it on the Cingular network. I'm on Long Island, N.Y. and they have really good service here.
Thanks to all of you for all your input, and helping me make this purchase.
Mark
P.S. does anyone know if this will work with "Fast Forward". I have the the motorola base unit, but I heard it may not be compatible.
order tuesday morning
tracking information wednesday night
phone delivered thursday afternoon (from hong kong)
not too bad.
no. i did not receive a phone number, nor can i find one anywhere on their site. the only conact point seems to be [email protected].
ok. seems a little scary, but considering the number of people happy with their experience, and the price and contents of the package deal. i'd say this is legit and everyone is happy....
