ok.. mixed feelings on this..

i managed to get PST, i got the firmware and flex files from http://v600.cjb.net/.

i installed phonetools from the cd first. this had the usb drivers with it.

i installed PST next. then the PST patch.

i ran multiflashflex.

first i upgraded the firmware. i made sure overwrite, master clear and master reset were all checked (the other box wasn't).

took about 10 minutes. phone powered off after it was done. i turned the phone back on.

then i upgraded the flex. again overwrite, master clear and master reset were checked. took about another 10 minutes. phone powered off when done.

when i turned the phone on it asked if i wanted to personalize it and dropped me into the personal prefs menu.

The firmware file from cjb also includes a flex ... the flex file from cjb is an older flex than the one included with the firmware.

23R (from motclub) is later than 1DR ... but I haven't read anything that says 23R is stable or bug free ☚ī¸

Java games can be downloaded from wap.rousso.net and installed on the phone 🙂

ok.. so the phone came with 1CR.

cjb has 1DR which is newer then I take it? it includes an up to date, unbranded flex i am guessing?

23R from motclub is even newer, but possibly buggy? no idea if this has a flex or not.

What is moto's numbering scheme?

does moto have an official site they release firmware & flexes on or is this all...? 😎

0B is the major feature version (this changes when major new features are added)

09: this changes when minor features are added or major bugs are fixed

1CR/1DR/etc: this changes when minor bugs are fixed

... so 0B.09.1DR is a minor upgrade to 0B.09.1CR ... 0B.09.23R seems like a bigger jump from 1CR, but it's a test version ☚ī¸

I don't know of any other place where you can get upgrades unless you bring it in to a dealer who pays for upgrades and can upgrade it for you 😛

well i did just the firmware/flex.. now, unfortunately, it has webservice providers, a huge list of them, and you can't edit them. :-(

anyone know where i can get the original firmware it came with? stupid me didn't think to backup (if you even can)?

If you run p2k....you and delete the a/websessions file there. This will erase all the webservice providers...and you can add/delete/edite as many as you would like.

I'm not sure if there is a better alternative...but it works.

So other than the webservice list...what are your thoughts on the 1CR...1DR...23R? Which "bugs" were fixed? Do you have the voicemail icon problem? Which one do you wish you had right now?

How about the firmware...it should be the same from both websites (GI9V600000AA0E9)...is it worth it?

Hey do you have function of the camera? It seems that some poeople are having problems with their camera after flashing newer V600s - it seems that Motorola changed digitcal camera manufacturers...and the newest flash doesn't support this newer camera. I'm sure that a version will come out eventually that will support it though. If you did flash and you have no control of the camera...which version did you flash with (to be sure).

ok..

i must be missing something..

what is the p2k software and where do i get it?

i thought p2k was PST and it's not.

i have PST phone service tools (6.7). i can't enable java application loading through it. the whole application looks like for testing the phone. the only application i made use of was multiflashflex which i uploaded the new firmware and flex with.

i poked around with some of the other apps from motoclub but am afraid of screwing up my phone with them.

what is the file name for p2k?

thanks!

I'm no expert...so take everything I say with a grain of salt.

p2k manager is a file manager. You should be able to get the p2kman file from motclub.com...from there you can delete the a/websessions file which will get rid of those websessions already installed.

So....which flash / flex would you recommend? What are your thoughts on the different versions?

well.. the only two versions i've tried were the original that came in my system CR and the "newer" one DR that came with its own flex.

other than losing a bunch of built in pictures (maybe some sounds, i'm not sure, there were a lot to start with) i don't think i lost any functionality. there are a few new menu items added in the system info area, but no added features that i really see.

oh. i lost the asian languages and now have european languages. shrug. i can only read & write american english anyway.

i lost the 3 games it came with. didn't even get a chance to play with them. ☚ī¸

i know a few people keep talking about a voicemail waiting icon bug. i haven't seen it yet. i think that's more of a function of the provider sendi...

from reading different sources, it seems...

the CR is for Asia

the DR is for Europe

the ER will be for North America

actual differences...no clue.

ahhh! thanks for the info. well. if that's true then i really didn't upgrade at all, just changed language sets. the european languages are a little better for me (being american) as i would accdently put myself in to asian tap modes before. then again i can still put myself in a european tap mode i guess.

i'm sticking with my current flash until something more "official" is released, probably around the time AT&T gets theirs out i'd imagine.
