Motorola V500 Better Screen Than V600

Hi, I have a Motorola V600. My mum just puchased a Motorola V600 today.

I have been comparing the phones, and to be very honest,, the V500 screen is alot brighter and slightly clearere than the V600 screen. The zoom on the camera is more blurred on the V600 than the V500.

I thought the V600 screen would be alot better than the V500 screen, as it is alot more expensive,

Pleas help me out guys as I am very comfused. Its as if the v600's contrast is lower than the v500's, but i went to settings-initial setup-brightness, and changed them both to 6.

The v500 screen was still alot brighter than v600.

Hope you can help.

Josh

Hi,

I'm not sure about the new batch of V600 screens that I've been hearing better than the older first V600s that came out last year, but both the V400 and V500 have a different type of screen than the V600. The V400 and V500 have a Transmissive TFT screen, and the V600 has a transreflective TFT screen. Not sure exactly what that all means, but I would think the V600 saves a little on battery life.

I believe someone did a photo comparison on this or another forum comparing the two in different lighting. The V400/500 was brighter than the 600, but in bright light (outdoors), I think that the 600 was able to be seen better.

Hope that helps.

Basically, here's the diff -

Transmissive TFT - Transmits light much better than it can reflect it.

Transflexive TFT - Capable of reflecting light at the expense of brightness and color richness.

In environments where the ambient light is less than the screen's backlight (indoors), a transmissive screen will simply look better than a transflexive screen.

In situations where the ambient light is brighter than the backlight (outdoors), the transflexive remains at least somewhat visible, as the screen can reflect the sunlight back through the screen - It's not pretty, but it can be seen. The transmissive screen is much more difficult, if not impossible, to read in sunlight.
