V600 with ATT or wait for Cingular?

I’m sure there are many people out there who were anticipating joining ATT and then stopped to think if they should after the merger with Cingular. After all joining a wireless carrier that was bought by another gives you a false sense of security. The solution if one were concerned over such matters is to simply join the buyer in this case Cingular. However what if Cingular does not have the phone you want and ATT does. What if you had to wait months for Cingular to get the phone you like. The phone in question is the v600 which is now exclusively available though ATT.

Should you wait or should you not? What happens to your plan service and branded phone when both company’s merge and ATT in its current form ceases to exist? What happens...

I faced the same dilemma. I chose to go with AT&T for several reasons. The primary being a recent relocation. And second a change in jobs that caused me to lose my previously FREE cell phone. After the move I made a decision to use a wireless as my only phone, thus forcing me into a painful state of waiting and wondering.

I had put in an order for the v400 from Cingular, but cancelled when I saw the v600 out by AT&T 2 days later. Since this was going to be my only phone, I wanted the freedom that bluetooth offers when walking around my apt.

My choice, in the end, was an easy one. I have but two questions for you: What is your motivation? Do you need the phone now, or can you wait? I agree that Cingular's service is...
